Our Mission & Vision
Mission Statement
Promoting the development of life skills through the sport of swimming.
Vision Statement
Velocity Swimming is the premier family-oriented, year-round, competitive swimming program in North Central Washington. Our aim is to ensure that all swimmers reach their maximum potential both in and out of the pool, and that all members develop life skills such as self-confidence, discipline, hard work, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Velocity Swimming, in conjunction with USA Swimming, is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all of our athletes. The success of Velocity Swimming is built from the foundation of working together for the benefit of our swimming program and community-at-large.
Who We Are
Velocity is the only year-round competitive swim team in the greater Wenatchee Valley. We offer high-quality, professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. The goal of our team is to provide every member an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at their level of ability, from novice to international competitor.
All of our coaches have access to the most comprehensive training and certification programs for youth coaches of any sport in the United States. This provides assurances that the time children spend in swimming is quality time.
Team History
Velocity Swimming has been a part of the Wenatchee Valley for over 40 years. We originated in 1976 as a summer-only program called the Eastmont Swim Team. When the pool was covered in the late seventies, the team became a year-round USA Swimming program called the Barracudas. Coaches Jack and Jeanne Davisson led the 'Cudas to multiple championships through the 1980s, 1990s, and into the 21st century. In 2005, the Davissons handed the reins to new coach Bob Hill.
In the fall of 2010, the Barracudas merged with swim team parents and coaches from the WRAC to become the present-day Velocity Swimming. Shortly after, in the fall of 2011, John Pringle was hired as head coach. John grew the team throughout his 9 years as head coach and saw much success, sending swimmers to Winter Junior Nationals and winning three Inland Empire Long Course Championships and one Short Course Championship. John retired from full-time coaching in August 2019.
Following Pringle’s retirement, the program continued its tradition of excellence under the successive leadership of Coach Tom and Coach Westley, both of whom steered the team through transitions while maintaining a strong commitment to athlete development. Today, Velocity Swimming is proud to be led by Co-Head Coaches Audrey Hyde and Christian Cutter. Bringing a shared passion for teaching and competitive growth, they continue to build upon the team's rich, decades-long legacy in the Wenatchee Valley, inspiring the next generation of swimmers to reach their highest potential in and out of the water. To learn more about Coach Hyde and Coach Cutter's community-driven vision for the team's future, read their recent feature in The Wenatchee World.
Team Leadership
